New Year’s Day - January 1, 2017
Dear Friends:
Re: Socrates Trader Level Preview - The Markets in 2017 - Heads-up - Day Trading this Week – 2017 Points to Ponder
Preview of Trader Level on the Socrates Platform
With a return of retail investors, we stand a chance of pressing through our next major target, the 23,000 level.
So those who hate Trump – suck it up and focus on the profits. Such opportunities do not come in life that often.
The Markets Moving Forward in 2017
Next year 2017 will be an important year for a Directional Change. Therefore, we are paying attention to the 2016 year‐end closing generated by Socrates (SOC). Our Analytic Team relies heavily on the SOC Artificial Intelligent computer which does not have any emotion nor any bias.
As Martin Armstrong (MA or Marty) said on this 1st day of 2017: “We stand at the threshold of a new dawn. I took that picture of the sunrise over Central Park in New York. It reminds me how insignificantly we are to even think we can alter the grand design of how everything works from the economy to the climate.”
Here are our predictions based on SOC and Marty’s interpretation thereof:
Gold
2017 is critical for timing in Gold.
The US$ is poised to rally and failing to close 2016 with the lowest annual closing opens up the possibility that a final low in Gold may not occur until 2018. At the moment the SOC Daily Trend for Gold is more Bearish than Bullish.
However, Gold did close 2016 at $1,151.70 and under $1,179. Support for Gold is at the $1,130 level and technical resistance at $1,246.
The Euro and the US$
For the Euro we may not be ready for a total meltdown yet. However, when we breach the 105.13 then - - - watch out below.
If the Euro refuses to rally above 107.00 then it will signal it will be going lower for a couple of years. The result will be - - - more Euros will be flowing into the US$ and push it up and up.
The Dow
The Dow broke resistance in December and it closed the year at 19,762.60 and the next resistance on a Daily is 21,301 which number will change if new highs occur.
We do not rule out a near-term correction before the Dow goes higher and at this point it is important to note that you should read our Heads-up on Trading in the Near-Term noted below. This heads-up indicates that it may not be all a bed of roses moving towards the 21,301 so; we will have to remain cautious and make sure we don’t get trapped.
The SOC signals at the close of 2016 were certainly interesting.
As per our Heads-up on Trading in the Near-Term noted below, the long-term view continues to be Bullish but, our Analytical Team advises absolute caution. When a low does appear many investors will believe that it is the crash they have been waiting for and leave the market. However, our Analytical Team believes that if that does occur it will be a money-making buying opportunity.
Stocks and Bonds
We continue to believe that Stocks remain the only investment in town and fixed-income is the hot potato. Yes, the Bond bubble is coming to its end.
US 30-year Treasury Bonds
For 30-year US Bonds - - - the party is over!
Heads-up on Trading in the Near-Term
Please note: Before the 2016 year-end, Money Managers were reluctant to sell stocks with big gains for example; Gold stocks that had a great run during 2016. Consequently, Money Managers held onto these stocks and will probably sell them early in 2017 and make the gains at a time when investors will have lower taxes to pay.
Therefore, if you are planning to buy Gold stocks, as we do, then you should consider this kind of selling and not rush to buy. Just be patient!
Day Trading this Week
We tested the Preview in Gold Futures on Thursday December 29 and did some Day Trading and booked some profits. However, on Friday December 30, the last day of trading for 2016, volume totally dried up very early in the day and we did not do so well that day.
Since we started Day Trading in August based on Socrates Forecast and Alerts, we have booked excellent profits and our overall Return on Investment (ROI) has been very good.
This year we will also pay more attention to our strategy vis-a-vis Option trading.
All in all, we are looking forward to continuing and improving our ROI Day Trading for 2017.
2017 Points to Ponder
Starting this year the main Points to Ponder are:
As per Point 4 noted above, having a great ROI will make Points 1, 2 and 3 so much easier to achieve therefore, that is where Martin Armstrong (MA or Marty) with his Socrates AI (Artificial Intelligence) comes in to assist and is very helpful to us. The input by Marty into Socrates from some 2,300 years BC and his writing of the Socrates system code that took him decades to write, allows all of us to achieve Point 1, 2 and 3 much easier.
Our Analytic Team and I totally rely on the Socrates Forecasts and Alerts and Martin Armstrong’s interpretation thereof and consequently, we are entering 2017 with a fountain of knowledge as to “What the Future will Bring us” and based on that we can wish you and your families:
